Owing to the launch of the MICHELIN Guide in Singapore, this gastronomic hub has now reached a prestigious level on the world stage. To gourmands, this might come as no surprise. After all, the nation’s favourite pastime is eating and the country is constantly making waves to achieve new culinary heights at every turn.
So it was only fair that when Singapore eased out the lockdown and headed into Phase #2, we headed out to Buona Terra to experience their take on modern Italian cuisine!
Housed in a cosy extended wing of Chateau Tcc, Buona Terra’s boutique ambience weaves a spell of charming intimacy. The interior’s understated sophistication evokes the colonial beauty of a typical Black-and-White bungalow but still remains fetchingly casual.
We kickstarted our gastronomic experience by opting for the degustation dinner menu priced at SGD 148++ and were pleasantly surprised with all 4 courses.
Courses 1&2
First off on the menu was some amazing amuse bouche, which just melted in our mouths. A special callout for the *bursting* cold tomato soup sitting on olive oil which was equal parts refreshing and appetising. This was followed by Egg Zabajon with escargot, which was one of our absolute favourites from the entire menu.
Next we had, one of their signature dishes Scampi, served with cauliflower tartare, garlic sauce, raisins, fresh almonds and saffron sauce. This was followed by a very interesting take on seafood pasta with sea urchin and some homemade tagliatelle. I am not a huge fan of seafood pasta, but would have this again in a blink.
Courses 3&4
Next up was Agnello, a signature lamb dish served with a herbs crust and stuffed zucchini flower: It was literally the best lamb we had devoured in months!
Last up was one of the most inventive desserts, we have ever had: Sigaro! There is no age limit to savour this dessert, designed like a cigar! It was made of wafer with white chocolate passion fruit mousse, mango and chocolate meringue and was unbelievably tasty and innovative. The dessert courses were finally wrapped up with some more bite sized delicacies and we called it a night with our hearts and tummy full 🙂
